Middle and High School Swing Dance Classes
Pizitz Classes: We are pleased to announce that due to the large number of students interested in taking swing dance classes each year, we have moved to open enrollment. On March 1st at 8:00pm of your child’s 6th grade year, all class options will go LIVE on my website- you can hop on and register your child for a Swing weekend on a first come- first serve basis.
All Other School Classes: We would love for you to be a coordinating parent and gather a group of students to make a Swing Class for your child’s age group! If you would like to become a coordinating parent please email me at swingdancing@yahoo.com

Middle School Swing Dance Classes
These classes are how it all began! We have been offering Swing Dance classes to Middle School (and High School) groups of kids for 10 years! Our hope and prayer behind these classes is that students will learn social skills, confidence, respect and ultimately how to participate in social functions in a way that honor the Lord while still having fun! These Swing Dance classes generally take place in the student’s 7th grade year but if you would like to head up a group for older students, we would be happy to have them! Typically, a parent or two gather a group then book a date! Groups must meet the minimum requirement of 12 boys and 12 girls and have less than the maximum amount of students, 25 boys and 25 girls. It is important for the girl to boy ratio to be even as possible so everyone is dancing the duration of the class! However, if numbers are slightly off, we have a great solution and will still welcome the group! Classes are Friday and Saturday night for 2 hours each session. At the end of the Saturday session, parents are invited to come watch what their child has learned at the parent presentation!

Adult Classes
We DO offer Swing Dance classes for adults! We have done adult groups such as book clubs, Sunday school classes, pre-ball Father/Daughter classes, adult birthday parties and more! These classes are an hour and a half each. Please reach out to inquire about availability and pricing for your group!

Bridal Family Classes
Do you have a wedding day coming up? Our Bridal Family Class might be perfect for you! This class can be as small or large as you want it to be! Typically the class is made up of the Bride and Groom, the parents of the Bride and the parents of the Groom and sometimes some grandparents or siblings with their spouses join in! These classes are around one hour and 45 minutes long. We begin by teaching several easy steps and moves you can use to “wow” people on the dance floor! Even if you are not a dancer, you will be surprised how confident you will be in your dance skills come wedding day! Once we have taught the basics, we then focus on the special presentation and dance of the bride/groom followed by the father daughter dance/ mother son dance! Everyone will leave feeling confident and excited about the dance party to follow your beautiful ceremony! Please reach out to inquire about pricing and availability!
How we got started
We started OTM Swing Dancing back in 2013 when my mom, Sandi Prater, suggested teaching my younger brother and his friends how to swing dance before their first middle school dance! If you have ever been to a middle school dance you typically find two things: students not dancing or dancing inappropriately! We saw a need to teach kids to dance and have fun at these events, while still glorifying the Lord! We have had the privilege of teaching thousands of students in the Over the Mountain area and would love to talk with you about getting a group together. Typically a girl parent and a boy parent will work together to gather a group to make up a Swing Dance class.

We require a minimum of 12 boys and 12 girls for a class and the maximum is 25 boys and 25 girls.

OTM Swing Dance classes are 2 sessions hosted on a Friday and Saturday night. These sessions last 2 hours each. Parents of the participants are invited to come watch what their child has learned at the conclusion of our classes! Pictures and videos taken at the parent viewing make for the sweetest memories you will have for years to come!

The cost of the class is $90. $15 is collected upon registration as a non-refundable registration fee. The remaining balance of $75 will be due closer to class time via venmo. The balance of the class should not be sent in until you have received an email about the class from me!

We host our OTM Swing Dancing classes at a few different venues. The venue of your class will be determined closer to date. Most classes happen in the Vestavia or Mountain Brook area but we can also come closer to your group if needed!

SwingDance Fundraiser
We would love to join along side you to fundraise for the cause dear to your heart! We offer this as a one night opportunity and do not charge for our teaching services! You gather the group and set the price and we will come teach the class! This could be a fun "date night" type fundraiser and we would be honored to partner with you!
